STEWARDSHIP: SHINING OUR LIGHT

2019 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

2019 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

How can St. Margaret’s stay a bright light in the world?

Fr. Isaias told us in a sermon that the church is not within our church walls, but out in the community of Plainview/Old Bethpage and beyond. To be a light in the world we must be known by the community around us. Being known in the world around us builds awareness that St. Margaret's is a community of faith committed to seeking, serving, and sharing Christ in the world.

We are a blessed congregation in so many ways. The generosity, care, and kindness that is extended on a daily basis is a beautiful thing to witness. This is God’s love at work; this is our light shining bright.

Can our light also shine bright in our stewardship?

The annual stewardship campaign at St. Margaret’s is set to begin in October.

From a practical perspective, we all know that it is our pledge dollars that support the programs and operations of our church. Fundamentally, we must have money available to pay our priest, to pay for electric, heat and air conditioning, to pay for cleaning the church, to pay for keeping up the grounds, to pay for internet and office supplies, to pay for Sunday School materials, to pay for much-needed repair work around the church, as well as to shine bright in the community around us.

It is not always an easy choice to prioritize our giving to the church over what we need in our day-to-day lives. For me, I really try to keep my attention on the basic fact that God has entrusted me to manage his resources in a way that brings Him honor and glory. By pledging to St. Margaret’s each year, I believe that this financial commitment contributes to keeping the light of St. Margaret’s shining bright, not only in our community, but in my heart! I hope you will feel the same.

As you pray about filling out your pledge card this year, please consider how your pledge will contribute to keeping St. Margaret’s light shining bright among our parishioners and in the world around us.

It is truly an honor to serve our Lord together with such a faithful and loving church family!

Faithfully,

Kim

“ But seek first God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

ARCHIVE 2018 - Generosity does transform our community, our church and each of us. When we give from the heart and are financially generous, it is empowering to know that our resources are going to important programs within our parish and help to transform the wider community, as well.

“Transforming Generosity” might also mean that we can reimagine what generosity looks and feels like. There is no question that God calls upon us to be financially generous. But we are also called to be generous in the way we welcome each other and newcomers to St. Margaret’s; in the way we care for the planet; in the way we forgive those who have offended us; and in the way we tend to the grounds and buildings on St. Margaret’s beautiful campus.

This year’s pledge drive is about more than our parish budget. It is about how we transform generosity and allow generosity to transform us. I believe our lives can be changed through this work.

Please prayerfully consider how much you will be able to pledge to St. Margaret’s in 2019. Your pledge is a faithful response to all we have received from God and from this parish family. It is not too late to request pledge cards for the year ahead.

Let’s work together to transform generosity in our church, our community and our lives. I’m grateful to be part of the St. Margaret’s family.

Faithfully,

Kim (2018)
