MUTUAL MINISTRY REVIEW: APRIL 12 - MAY 16

Mother Heather Melton will share the Mutual Ministry Review process on Sunday, April 12 at the 8 am and 10 am services.

My name is Heather Melton and I am a Congregational Development Consultant for The Episcopal Church, and it’s my honor to come back to St. Margaret’s to oversee your Mutual Ministry Review (MMR). I’ve enjoyed getting to know many of you over the past few years through a vestry retreat and serving as a supply priest, so it is a great honor to be a part of this important and holy work. Right after Easter I’ll be joining you for worship and to start the process of the Mutual Ministry Review for your parish, which will conclude with a vestry retreat on May 16, and a written report to follow up.

Mutual Ministry Reviews are a chance for congregations to pause in their busy schedules and reflect on the work that you are doing. It’s akin to a wellness visit with your doctor. We are going to look at twelve areas that are indicators of strength and health in congregations to see where things are going well and where we need to focus some energy and effort as we go forward. In order to do this well, we need your input. I have put together a survey of 24 questions (2 on each area) for you to respond to over the next few weeks. I will use the results of this survey (along with a longer version your clergy and vestry will fill out) as the foundation for the MMR, so along with your vestry and priest, we can evaluate at our retreat in May.

You may find the survey on the following website: http://goo.gl/forms/4e2gzeZ9tx and it will be available online until 9 a.m. on Friday, May 8. Paper copies of the survey are also available in the parish office. If you are filling out the form on paper, it is due back to the parish office by Sunday, May 3, so that your responses can be inputted into the online survey for evaluation.

On Sunday, April 12, I will share more about MMR’s and how this process unfolds in the life of St. Margaret’s. I’ll also be around after both services if you have specific questions that you would like to discuss with me about the process. I look forward to being with you this spring and am praying for you daily in the meantime

All the best,

~ The Reverend Heather L. Melton
