GARDENING IN THE FIELD OF THE HEART - APRIL
As new life springs from the earth this month, what stirs in your heart?
What do you do to keep your faith green and grow-ing? What fertilizer do you apply? Do you call a friend or visit? Or do you read a spiritual classic or take a walk if you’re able? Consider moments of silence. If you are quiet enough, you might even find you’re not alone. If you enjoy reading the Old Testament, you might notice that while the minor prophets wrote as long ago as B.C. 600, the voice of God calls whomever is willing to hear, whether in Ninevah or New York. Take a walk through the Psalms. Invite Paul - a good companion. Tend the garden of your heart and make space for the Holy Spirit to dwell within.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven."
- Ecclesiastes 3:1
“A major obstacle to creativity is wanting to be in the peak season of growth and generation at all times ... But if we see the soul’s journey as cyclical, like the seasons ... then we can accept the reality that periods of despair or fallowness are like winter - a resting time that offers us a period of creative hibernation, purification and regeneration that prepares us for the births of spring.”
Quoted from “The Call to Create: Listening to the Muse in Art and Everyday Life,” by Leonard and Linda Schierse.
