ALTAR GUILD - MAY

“That Easter Day with joy was bright, the sun shone out with fairer light.” (Hymn #193)

Yes, we were truly blessed with a magnificent Easter Sunday morning! And all the work that we did throughout Holy Week and in preparation for Easter services was forgotten, at least for a little while, as we joyfully proclaimed, “The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!”

Our Altar Guild and auxiliary members are a dedicated group of woman and men who faithfully make sure the sanctuary and church are ready for worship, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals and special services no matter the day of the week or the time of day.

A warm and heartfelt thanks to all who helped from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day in readying our sanctuary and narthex to visually project the drama, solemnity and ultimate joy of our Christian journey. We also want to recognize Edith Alfieri for her continued dedication and beautiful Easter floral arrangements.

If you’d like to find out more about the Altar Guild, we invite you to a Diocesan Altar Guild meeting May 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, Rockville Centre. Fr. Paul Woodrum and Victor Challenor, partners at Challwood Studio, will be the guest speakers following Holy Eucharist. For 30 years, they have custom-designed and crafted dis-tinctive liturgical vestments and appointments. You’ll enjoy learning about the origins, uses, customs and care of items every Altar Guild is entrusted to maintain.
