MEET SUSAN ISHERWOOD

We welcome our new Director of Music

We are very pleased to welcome our new music director, Susan Isherwood. After one rehearsal with Susan, we recognized her musical abilities and her skill at directing a choir. We look forward to a new season of choral work under Susan’s guidance and hope that more parishioners will join in the fun and joy of making music to praise our God to the best of our ability. Please either introduce yourself to Susan, or speak to a choir member about your interest in joining choir. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 8:15 and last until about 9:30.

In September, Susan Isherwood joined the St. Margaret’s ministry team as our new Director of Music. Susan did her Bachelor of Music degree in Pedagogy and Performance at Hartt College of Music at the University Of Hartford. After graduate work at the University of Connecticut, she was given a full scholarship for her Master of Music degree in Pedagogy and Accompanying at the University of Illinois where she was a teaching assistant for Dr. Larry Rast (Keyboard Magic). After three years as an instructor at Millikin University and Chair of the Preparatory School, she came to Maine for family reasons and has since been active as a choral director, accompanist and piano teacher, both at Waynflete School and North Yarmouth Academy. Susan was the organist and choir director at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Windham, Maine, for seven years. During this time, she was also the accompanist for the Lower Octave of the Boy Singers of Maine. Upon leaving Maine, Susan went to Connecticut where she took a position as music director for Zion’s Hill UMC. During the same time, she was the school accompanist for the Wilton School District and for New Canaan Country School in Darien. Susan is now the Choral Director for St. Agnes HS in College Point, Queens and is very much looking forward to starting her new position with the Episcopal Church of St. Margaret’s. Susan lives in Uniondale, her home town, with her mother and little Zizi, the wondrous poodle!
